The view down the Royal Mile from the apartment window.
At the road juction is where the original gate to the walled City of Edinburgh stood. The gate was known as 'worlds end' because the people of Edinburgh could not leave the safety of the walled city and for them this was where their world ended. Brass cobbles in the road show where the gates once stood.
The Queen's Edinburgh Palace, Holyroodhouse, is just out of shot, at the end of the road.
Tip: If you have the car with you. To save getting up early to feed the parking meter, feed it the night before and it won't start until the following morning. But don't forget to put the ticket on display in your windscreen.
