At the bottom of the Royal Mile you will find the Palace of Holyroodhouse (The Queens Edinburgh residence).
The reason the Royal Mile is so called is because it is 1 mile long (give or take a few yards) and links Edinburgh Castle at the top to the Palace of Holyroodhouse at the bottom.
